Site Description:
The Jones Road site is a groundwater plume contaminated with
tetrachloroethylene (PCE) from the former Bell Dry Cleaners at
11600 Jones Road and other potential sources. PCE is a manufactured
chemical that is widely used for dry cleaning of fabrics. In
January 2003, the
plume was documented to extend from the southern end of Echo
Spring Lane to Tower Oaks Boulevard and from Timber Hollow to the
eastern side of Jones Road.(

Recent
Site Actions:
- September 29, 2008, after September 29, the EPA and the TCEQ
are no longer accepting any additional water line connections
requests, other than compelling circumstances.
- September 26, 2008, The EPA and TCEQ representatives conducted
a site inspection to assess the impact of Hurricane Ike. There was
no evidence of hurricane-related damage to the property located at
11600 Jones Road or the filtration systems installed on water
supply wells.
- August 26, 2008, results of the May 2008 quarterly monitoring
event were mailed to 243 well owners and residents.
- August 4, 2008, postcards were mailed to the community to
announce the August 2008 groundwater monitoring program would be
postponed until after the completion of the water line.
- April 1, 2008,
Updated Map of Waterline Service Area posted
on web site.
- February 2008, quarterly monitoring event was conducted where a
total of 262 samples were collected from 19 monitor wells and 119
water well locations. Multiple samples were collected from wells
equipped with a filtration system.

Directions: At TCEQ Austin, parking for
visitors and the handicapped is available on the east side of
Building D near IH-35 and on the west side of Building E,
convenient to wheelchair access ramps that are between Building D
and Building E. The Records Management Center is on the first floor
of Building E.
