The Surface Water Quality Standards Advisory Work Group
(SWQSAWG) provides guidance on options available for revising the
2000 Texas Surface Water Quality Standards (30 TAC Chapter 307) and
the Procedures to Implement the Texas Surface Water Quality
Standards, RG-94 (Procedures to Implement the Standards). The
workgroup's guidance is sought for various topics, including
nutrient criteria development and application, toxic criteria
changes per EPA criteria updates, implementation of EPA's guidance
on recreational indicators and uses, and site-specific criteria
changes to classified and unclassified water bodies.

Participating in the SWQSAWG
The members of the SWQSAWG have been selected so that the
advisory group is balanced, consistent with §5.107 of the
Texas Water Code. The meetings are open to the public, and anyone
who is interested in changes to the Texas Surface Water Quality
Standards may attend.
This group currently has representation from water associations,
agricultural industry, engineering firms, environmental
organizations, consumer groups, and government entities.
Upcoming Meetings
The next meeting of the SWQSAWG will be on January 6 and 7, 2009
from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. The Standards will be the focus of the
meeting on the first day and the IPs will be discussed the
following day. The meeting will be held in Building F, Room 2210,
which is on the second floor. Maps to the meeting location can be
