Requesting a Seismic Letter

A seismic letter is one of three types of groundwater protection recommendation (GWPR) letters issued by the TCEQ.

To request a seismic letter for groundwater protection, submit your request to the TCEQ on company letterhead. Be sure to include this information in (or with) your request:

  • Name of the proposed seismic program
  • Depth of the shot holes
  • Size (in pounds) of the explosive charge used in each shot hole
  • Location map with abstracted surveys and shot hole locations

Send us your request by regular U.S. mail or by an overnight express service. For a fee, you may request expedited processing of your application.

When you receive your GWPR letter, you must attach it to your RRC permit. The RRC relies on information in this letter to design a groundwater protection program for your study.

Contact us if you have questions.
