Amending a Seismic or Surface Casing Letter

If you have an existing surface casing letter or seismic letter that was issued during the current calendar year and the location, elevation, total depth, or other information about the well has changed, you will need to get an amended letter.

To get an amended letter, submit these items:

  • A revised location map.
  • A new, complete form TCEQ-0051, following these instructions as you complete these three blanks:
    1. Answer "Yes" under “Is this an amended request?”
    2. Enter the SC number in the blank for “Previous File No.” (Find this number on the upper right-hand portion of your current recommendation letter. It begins with “SC-.”)
    3. Under "Remarks," tell us what is being amended. (This will help us provide you with a proper response.)

Send us your request by regular U.S. mail or by an overnight express service. For a fee, you may request expedited processing of your application.

When you receive your amended groundwater protection recommendation letter, you must attach it to your RRC permit. The RRC relies on information in this letter to design an appropriate groundwater protection program.

Contact us if you have questions.

Form TCEQ-0051

Because form TCEQ-0051 is a multipage carbonless form, it is not available electronically, but you may view a sample form. To request copies of this form contact Publications at 512/ 239-0028.
