TCEQ Approves Fines Totaling $1,330,466

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $1,012,503 against 51 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.

Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: one agriculture, seven air quality, one Edwards Aquifer, two industrial wastewater discharge, four multimedia, two municipal solid waste, five municipal wastewater discharge, seven petroleum storage tank, ten public water system, four water quality.

Default orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: five petroleum storage tank, two public water system, and one water rights.

Included in the total are fines of $206,740 against TPC Group LLC in Harris County for air emissions violations in 2014. Of the total, as part of a Supplemental Environmental Project, $103,370 will be paid to the Houston Regional Monitoring Corporation to operate a network of monitoring stations that continuously measure and record concentrations of ambient air pollutants.

In addition, on Dec. 13, Jan. 4, Jan. 10, and Jan. 17, the Executive Director approved a total of 119 penalties, totaling $350,780.
