The TMDL Program sets targets for improving the quality of
surface waters and develops implementation plans (I-Plans) to
achieve them. Check here for information about stakeholder
meetings, opportunities to comment on proposed TMDLs or
implementation plans (I-Plans), and requests for proposals on
project contracts.
TMDLs Proposed for
Adoption
The date the commission will consider
adopting the
TMDLs for Buffalo and Whiteoak Bayous was
rescheduled to December 10, 2008, due to extensive damage to the
Houston area from Hurricane Ike. The TCEQ is currently revising the
TMDL report; the updated draft will be available on the Web prior
to the commission’s December 10th meeting.

Other Water News
The
Texas Parks and Wildlife 2008 Expo is
scheduled for October 4th and 5th. At the Expo, visitors can fish,
shoot, kayak, rock climb, mountain bike, see and touch wildlife,
learn more about recreation in the great outdoors, and see and buy
the latest in outdoor gear and services. Most importantly, visitors
can learn how they can help to conserve our precious natural
resources. Admission is FREE!
The Adopt-a-Beach
program of the General Land Office is sponsoring its next beach
cleanup on September 27, 2008.
Waste Pesticide Collections
The TCEQ has scheduled several collection events in September and
October for waste agricultural pesticides. See the dates,
locations, and description of acceptable items on our Web page,
Agricultural Waste Pesticide Collection Program, or call
