The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved
penalties totaling $789,868 against 117 regulated entities for
violations of state environmental regulations.
Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement
categories: 16 air quality, eight dry cleaner, two Edwards Aquifer,
20 field citations, four industrial waste discharge, three licensed
irrigator, three multi-media, three municipal solid waste, ten
municipal waste discharge, one on site sewage, 13 petroleum storage
tank, six public water system, one sludge, and six water quality.
In addition, there were default orders issued for the following
categories: four dry cleaner, one Edwards Aquifer, one industrial
hazardous waste, five licensed irrigator, two multi-media, two
municipal solid waste, and six petroleum storage tank.
Also, the commission denied the City of El Paso's Motion to
Continue consideration of the application by ASARCO for renewal of
an air quality permit. The application will be considered by the
commission on Feb. 13 at 1:00 p.m.
The TCEQ's next agenda meeting is scheduled for Feb. 13. Agenda
